AEB-L Stainless Steel is one of the best options for a hunting knife. It is extremely tough to allow for a thin edge that will not chip and will cut effortlessly.
This knife is available with a variety of handle materials, their properties are listed below. All of our handle materials will stand up to a lifetime of daily use. We recommend hand washing and drying your custom knife to maximize the longevity of the handle material. Sitting in water or dishwashing may damage the handle material and will certainly dull the blade.
Black Burlap Micarta: Micarta is a phenolic-based composite that uses many layers of natural fibers (burlap in this case) to create a strong, grippy and visually pleasing handle material. Over time, Micarta can darken as the fibers pick up oils from the environment. This will not negatively affect the material in any way.
Stabilized Wood: Stabilized wood is one of the most visually striking handle materials out there. The stabilizing process ensures that the wood will be far more resistant to moisture ingress than natural wood and it also brings out the grain and structure of the wood. Stabilized wood is a great option for a handle but the user must be a bit more careful with it as compared to composite alternatives.
G10 Composite: G10 is a fiberglass composite that is the most durable handle material a knife can have. G10 provides vibrant colors and complete stability with the harshest use. The material can but a bit less grippy than micarta and is also a bit heavier in the hand but it is the best option for those who are worried about forgetting their knife in standing water.
Stabilized Pinecone: Our Stabilized Pinecone handles are visually striking and offer a great feel in hand. This material is made from a stabilized pine cone that is then filled with colored acrylic. This material, like stabilized wood, will not stand up well to sitting in water and may swell or crack if it is abused.
